Frequently Asked Questions
Please contact Inland Empire United Way 211 by calling “211”. The 2-1-1 Coordinated Entry System (CES) is available in San Bernardino County, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. By dialing the 3-digit calling code, 2-1-1, the caller is connected to a live, bilingual homeless assistance call specialist who will help assess the caller’s situation and streamline access to homeless assistance services, screen applicants for eligibility for these and other programs in a consistent and well-coordinated way, and assess needs to determine which interventions are the best fit for each individual and/or family.

The role of the Office of Homeless Services (OHS) is to assist the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership in its mission to end chronic homelessness in San Bernardino County. OHS is the lead agency for the annual HUD SuperNOFA application thereby administering the local selection process with a goal of maximizing the funding for homeless services in San Bernardino County.
The Homeless Partnership is divided into two sessions. The Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH) is the policy making session. The ICH meets once per month. The second session is the Homeless Provider Network (HPN). The HPN meets monthly, on the third Wednesday of each month. Please refer to the Calendar under “Upcoming Events and Meetings” to view specific information regarding future meetings. You can also contact the Office of Homeless Services to be placed on our e-mail list.
The Office of Homeless Services works closely with the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership to achieve a number of goals in resolving homelessness within the county. Some of the on-going outcomes we are striving for are:
- Implement the recommendations in the 10 year strategy to end chronic homelessness.
- Work with agencies within the county to increase permanent supportive housing.
- Educate the community on homeless issues.
- Seek community involvement in addressing homeless concerns.
Please call the Office of Homeless Services at (909) 501-0610 or email OHS at HomelessRFP@hss.sbcounty.gov. Tell us about yourself and/or your agency and we will invite you to the Partnership meetings and include you in future correspondence.
